Diesel Clean-Up Policy Advocacy

In order to promote public health, a sustainable climate and job creation, partners in the Diesel Clean-Up Campaign are working to achieve policies on the local, state, federal, and international levels to promote maximum pollution reduction from diesel vehicles and equipment on the road today.

LOCAL AND STATE ADVOCACY IN THE U.S.:

To find local and state diesel clean-up policy and links to leaders, go to our Local & State Policy page.

FEDERAL POLICY IN THE U.S.:

Campaign partners are working together on federal regulation and legislation that will achieve diesel pollution reductions. Key policies include: (1) Clean Construction Provision in the Transportation Bill, and (2) Funding for the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA). For more information, please go to our Federal Policy page.

INTERNATIONAL POLICY THAT AFFECTS THE U.S.:

Some of the diesel pollution affecting the health of U.S. residents does not fall under U.S. juristiction. International collaboration is required to address the particulate air pollution from oceangoing ships which causes a staggering 60,000 premature deaths per year around the world, a number projected to grow steadily along with world trade and shipping traffic. The Clean Air Task Force has taken the lead for the Campaign in working to achieve international policies to reduce diesel pollution and its harmful effects to health and climate. For more information, please go to our International Policy page.
